To change the battery in a
behind the ear hearing aid you must first open the battery drawer, this is
achieved by pulling it downwards with your fingernail. The old battery can
then be dropped or pushed out.
The most common type of battery these days is the
Zinc-Air type, which needs to have the coloured insulation tab removed
before inserting into the aid.
The battery is then gently pushed into the compartment.
The slightly raised side of the battery should always go into the
compartment first.
The battery drawer should then be gently closed, if it
doesn t close easily check the placement of the battery. DO
NOT FORCE THE DRAWER CLOSED.
Most behind the ear hearing aids have on/off type
switches, these can either move up and down, or from side to side to
function. Look closely at your hearing aid, O means OFF,
M means ON, T usually represents a telephone
pick up, (this is not an off position). The Hearing aid should always
be put in the O position when not being worn. The
volume control rolls upwards ( towards the sky ) for LOUDER and
downwards (towards the ground) for SOFTER. Some other types of aids
have other types of controls and switches, if you are not sure of there
function contact your hearing aid specialist. |
